The Isoko Development Union (IDU), Asaba branch, has called for calm following the death of Mr. Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda, a Deputy Director in the Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education, after an incident at the Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat in Asaba.
The union said the circumstances surrounding Adeda’s death remain unclear and have not been independently verified by IDU as investigations continue. The statement was signed by Elisha Ikolomi, President of the Isoko Development Union, Asaba Branch.

IDU Reacts to Death of Civil Servant
In the statement, IDU said it was informed of the death of Adeda, an Isoko indigene and senior civil servant in the Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education.
The union alleged that Adeda was beaten during an altercation with his superior in the office and subsequently died. It said the incident reportedly occurred at the Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat, Asaba, on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
However, IDU stressed that the circumstances and cause of death had yet to be established.
“The actual cause of the death is still unclear and yet to be verified by IDU,” the statement said.
Union Calls for Calm
IDU said it was investigating the circumstances surrounding Adeda’s death and urged Isoko sons and daughters in Asaba and neighbouring communities to remain calm and observant.
The union said it would pursue the matter through the appropriate channels and follow the investigation to its logical conclusion.
The appeal came amid heightened tension following Adeda’s death, as workers and other stakeholders seek clarification and accountability over the circumstances of the incident.
IDU Commends NLC, Aniagwu and Police
The Isoko Development Union commended the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Delta State Council, led by Comrade Goodluck Ofobruku, for its intervention.
The union also acknowledged the efforts of Delta State Commissioner for Information Charles Aniagwu and the Commissioner of Police in helping to restore calm following the incident.
IDU urged members of the Isoko community to remain peaceful while investigations into Adeda’s death continue.
