The FAI chief executive said the players intend to make further gestures during both matches against Israel.
The second fixture is scheduled for October 4 in Bačka Topola, Serbia.
Courell said some elements of the pre-match ceremony would not be participated in by the Republic of Ireland team.
He also confirmed that players intend to make charitable contributions from match fees connected to the Israel fixtures and their October 1 match against Austria.
