The Ijaw Council of Traditional Rulers has praised Hon Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Delta south senatorial election saying his kind is rare for exuding a plethora of leadership qualities.
The chairman of the council said without a further dig into his profile or person, by a mere gaze and his articulation, his personality speaks volumes.
In his statement, His Royal Majesty, Elder Capt King Joseph I. Timiyan JP, the Paramount Ruler of the oil-rich Ogulagha Kingdom, noted that the APC candidate has exemplified himself as a core Ijaw man to have spoken the language so fluently.
He added that for Joel-Onowakpo to have spoken the native dialect confirms that he accepted, imitated, and lived amongst them as one of theirs.

Timiyan, who happens to be the chairman of Delta state Ijaw traditional rulers council, lamented over the inability of his children to speak the Ijaw language despite being born of Ijaw parents after listening to Joel-Onowakpo.
Before offering their royal blessings to the Isoko-Ijaw man and financial expert of international repute, the council chronicled Joel-Onowakpo’s achievements in public and private sectors, especially at the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR) and Elomaz Hotels.
The monarchs said there is no doubt that the ex-DBIR chairman would perform superlatively if elected to represent Delta south in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.
