The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has questioned the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, over his alleged connection to the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Gbajabiamila appeared before investigators at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja on Monday, following an invitation from the anti-corruption agency as part of its ongoing probe into the alleged fake government agency.
His lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed the development in a statement, saying the president’s chief of staff honoured the invitation in compliance with Tinubu’s directive and fully cooperated with investigators.
According to Ogunye, Gbajabiamila arrived at the commission’s headquarters around 3 p.m., responded to questions from investigators and later returned to his official duties.

“In full cooperation with the ICPC acting as directed by the president of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to the president of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and appeared at about 15:00hrs on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the ‘PFIPC’ fake agency, among others,” the statement read
The interrogation follows Tinubu’s directive issued on July 2, ordering the ICPC to conduct a thorough investigation into the PFIPC controversy.
Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga had announced that the president instructed the anti-graft agency to conclude its investigation and submit a comprehensive report within 30 days.
The PFIPC controversy has attracted significant public attention following allegations surrounding the establishment and operations of the purported investment promotion council.
The ICPC is expected to determine those responsible for the creation and activities of the organisation.
