A Nigerian man confronted his wife at an August Meeting after allegedly discovering that she was attending the gathering instead of staying at the hospital with their sick son.

The incident, reportedly captured on video and shared on social media, occurred during an August Meeting attended by members of the South-East community.

In the footage, the visibly upset man could be seen confronting his wife in front of other attendees. He reportedly accused her of claiming to be at the hospital with their child while she was actually at the gathering.

The man’s confrontation reportedly escalated as he attempted to get his wife to leave the event, leaving attendees watching the tense exchange.

The incident has since triggered mixed reactions on X, with users divided over who was at fault.

Some users criticised the woman for allegedly leaving their sick child at the hospital to attend the meeting.

Reacting to the post, @Soma046life wrote:

“This woman might not be contributing anything in the family, as the Man went hustling for money, she left the child to attend a meeting… But that woman doesn’t know the gravity of what she is doing.”

Similarly, @DanielA95366156 said “Just divorce this woman. How can you leave your sick son in the hospital to attend one stupidity? These women didn’t learn, she wasn’t even remorseful for her stupidity.”

@genu.. also criticised the woman’s alleged actions but said the husband’s approach was equally problematic

“Her concern about her son’s well-being is totally abysmal, so also the approach from the spouse isn’t the solution. It takes two to tango.”

However, several users condemned the husband for publicly confronting and attempting to eject his wife from the gathering.

@FlexGmic wrote “What the husband did was out of line. Turning up publicly to confront and try to eject his wife doesn’t protect their sick child, it just humiliates and embarrasses himself, not the wife in front of strangers. A responsible father handles that conversation at home or at the hospital, not in front of a room full of people with phones out.”

@ojcadre1 similarly argued that the confrontation was unnecessary, writing “All this drama is not necessary. Let her come home and meet her load outside. These confrontations aren’t necessary. Men should be mature in dealing with women.”

Another user, @abdulfatah_tobs, described the incident as embarrassing “This is embarrassing! There are 1001 better ways that you both could have handled the situation instead of washing your dirty linen in public.”

@donrichiex also criticised the husband’s decision to confront his wife publicly “The man no get sense ojor. Why not let her come back first. Disgracing her in public doesn’t make any sense to me.”

Meanwhile, @haallimma expressed concern about the apparent public conflict between the couple, writing “Being a single unmarried girl, I’m always scared of having to see couples get violent with each other in public. Like!!!! What really deteriorated?”

Some users, however, urged people not to reach conclusions without knowing the couple’s full circumstances.

@cherrychila57 wrote “You don’t live with them you don’t know the full story. What if she stepped out to join the meeting just to clear her head. What if the situation is overwhelming and she needs to heal. What if she’s been the only person caring for him always. What if ?? You don’t know them.”

Another user, @Mfon_Best, questioned why the husband could not stay with the child himself while waiting for his wife“Is it a crime for the man to look after his own child? Why couldn’t he stay at the hospital, watching after his child patiently even as he waits for his wife to return?”

The reactions have continued to fuel debate over shared parenting responsibilities, caregiving, marital disagreements and whether public confrontation is ever justified in such circumstances.
