The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates. If you sat the May/June examination, this guide shows you how to check your WAEC 2026 result online, step by step, and what to do if something goes wrong.
Key Highlights
- WAEC released the 2026 WASSCE (School Candidates) results on Wednesday, 5 August 2026.
- Close to 1.96 million candidates from more than 24,200 schools in Nigeria sat the exam, which ran from 21 April to 19 June 2026.
- You must first generate a result-checking PIN at waec.org, then check your result at waecdirect.org.
- Results for the 2026 CB-WASSCE for Private Candidates (First Series) were released earlier, on 27 March 2026.
- Use only WAEC’s official websites; anyone offering to “upgrade” results is a fraudster.
How to check your WAEC 2026 result online
Announcing the release, WAEC told candidates to generate their PIN at waec.org and check their results on waecdirect.org, The Guardian reported. Follow these steps:
- Get your result-checking PIN. Visit waec.org and generate (purchase) a result checker PIN and serial number.
- Go to the result portal. Open www.waecdirect.org.
- Enter your examination number. This is your 10-digit number: your 7-digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number.
- Select the exam year and type. Choose 2026 and School Candidate Result (private candidates should choose the private candidate option).
- Enter your PIN and serial number, then click Submit to view your result.
Print or save a copy of the result page. You will need it for JAMB, post-UTME screening and admission processing for the 2026/2027 session.

What to do if your WAEC result is not showing
- Check your details. Most errors come from a wrong examination number, exam year or exam type.
- Withheld results. If your result is withheld, it is usually over a malpractice investigation or an outstanding issue with your school. Speak to your school or the nearest WAEC office.
- Some subjects missing. WAEC sometimes releases results with a few subjects still being processed. Check back later.
- Avoid fraud. Do not pay anyone who claims they can change or upgrade your grades. WAEC results can be verified through its official verification system.
Whether you are celebrating or planning a resit, your WAEC 2026 result is a starting point, not the finish line.
