According to the statement, Governor Yusuf spoke while presenting appointment letters to 4,900 newly recruited teachers for basic and secondary schools across Kano State and formally engaging 3,688 facilitators under the Abba Gida-Gida Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) Cohort V programme.

He said the federal government’s decision to halt the proposed fee hike would ease the financial pressure on parents and guardians while ensuring that more students continue to have access to education without additional economic hardship.

Governor Yusuf noted that the move reflects a commitment to protecting the interests of millions of Nigerian families and strengthening access to quality education across the country.

He specifically acknowledged the efforts of the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), applauding their commitment to promoting inclusive, accessible and affordable education.

Governor Yusuf further stated that the prompt release of UBEC counterpart funds has enabled Kano State to accelerate the construction and rehabilitation of schools, alongside the execution of other critical basic education projects aimed at improving learning conditions.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to educational development, the governor said the state government would continue to work closely with the Federal Ministry of Education, UBEC, NECO and other relevant agencies to strengthen investment in the sector and improve learning outcomes for pupils and students across the state.
