The Special Adviser on Internal Security to Governor Hyacinth Alia, Joseph Har, has harped on the urgent need for the immediate take-off of state police in Benue State.

The special adviser spoke in an exclusive chat on Saturday in Makurdi, the state capital.
He expressed concern over the existing security architecture in the state, noting that as soon as the state police becomes operational, there will be an enabling environment for its smooth kick-off in the state.
‘We Have Enough Manpower’
Har wondered why there has been a delay in implementing the state police and called on the relevant authorities to hasten action and ensure that implementation starts in earnest.
“We have enough manpower and all the necessary security apparatus are on ground to ensure the security outfit comes to fruition,” he said.

Har reaffirmed the state government’s commitment towards ensuring the provision of facilities to enable the state police function optimally to guarantee the safety of lives and property in the three senatorial districts in the state when established.
He observed that the proposal for state police was greeted with enthusiasm, while expressing displeasure that the plan has taken too long to come to fruition.
