Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has signed into law four bills establishing new state agencies. The new legislation marks a major stride in the governor’s commitment to modernize governance and stimulate economic growth.
The freshly enacted laws create the Kano State Protection Agency (KASPA), Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KASIAA), Kano State Information and Communication Technologies Development Agency (KASITDA), and the Kano State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (KASMEDA).
These agencies are strategically designed to boost public safety, regulate outdoor advertising, promote digital innovation, and empower small and medium-scale enterprises across the state. The development comes as part of Governor Yusuf’s broader agenda to position Kano as a 21st-century economy, capable of attracting investment and creating jobs for its growing population.
A statement from the Director of Media and Publicity at the Government House, Sanusi Bature, quoted the Governor as saying the new agencies are “key instruments of transformation” and will help lay “a solid foundation for a greater Kano.”
“These laws are not just policy tools. They are legislative game-changers that will drive our development agenda. From protecting lives to promoting ICT and empowering entrepreneurs, we are building the future today,” Governor Yusuf declared.

He also emphasized that any breaches of the new laws would attract stiff penalties, reinforcing his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on impunity and non-compliance.
By institutionalizing innovation, regulation, and enterprise development, the Yusuf-led administration is signaling its readiness to transform Kano into a beacon of progress and digital excellence in Northern Nigeria. The creation of KASITDA, in particular, is expected to spearhead Kano’s digital evolution, while KASMEDA is projected to become a vital support system for small businesses and job creation.
Political analysts and stakeholders have hailed the signing as a visionary step, aligning Kano with global best practices in governance, business development, and civic engagement.
As the 2027 elections inch closer, the signing of these groundbreaking laws could become a defining legacy of Governor Yusuf’s tenure—one that reshapes the socioeconomic landscape of Kano and reaffirms its place as a center of innovation and opportunity in Nigeria.
