The Gombe State Government has inaugurated a high-level Education Coordinating Committee, with a call for stakeholders to align with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s education priorities.
The committee was formally launched by the Commissioner for Education, Professor Aishatu Umar Maigari, during a one-day education stakeholders’ meeting held at Emerald Hotel.
Describing the inauguration as a significant step toward actualizing the government’s vision of transforming the education landscape in the state, Professor Maigari highlighted the committee’s key role in tackling critical challenges facing the sector.
She stated that the committee will work in accordance with its Terms of Reference to fine-tune strategies for improving educational outcomes.
In an effort to decentralize the initiative, the Commissioner also announced plans to establish similar committees at the local government level to identify and address grassroots challenges.

The newly formed committee includes education experts, civil society and religious organizations, education secretaries, members of the legislative arm, and representatives of persons with disabilities, among others. Professor Maigari will serve as the Chairperson.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the State House Committee on Education, Hon. Shuaibu Adamu, pledged the legislature’s full support to ensure the committee effectively executes its mandate.
A representative from the UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Mr. Rahpeal Agibola, also addressed participants, emphasizing the importance of the committee and praising the Gombe State Government for its collaborative efforts with development partners to address educational challenges.
The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), represented by Dr. Hauwa Umar, Permanent Member Two, along with other key stakeholders, made significant contributions during the event.
