The Gombe State Police Command has arrested two suspects over the alleged armed robbery and killing of the wife of a serving police officer in Gombe State.

Police Arrest Two Suspects in Gombe
The suspects, identified as Muhammad Bashir Sale, popularly known as “Full,” and Musa Sale Ahmad, also known as “Abba,” were arrested on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
According to the police, both suspects are residents of Wuro Shie Quarters, where the incident occurred.
The command said the arrests followed an investigation launched after the reported attack on the wife of Inspector Salisu Waziri, a police officer attached to the Safer Highway Patrol.
How the Gombe Attack Happened
The incident reportedly occurred at about 4:35am at Wuro Shie Quarters, Gombe.
Police said armed men invaded the residence of Inspector Waziri and attempted to rob his wife, Mrs Aishatu Salisu, of her mobile phone.
According to the command, the victim raised an alarm during the attack, prompting one of the assailants to allegedly stab her with a machete before the attackers fled the scene.
The suspects reportedly abandoned the phone during their escape.
Victim Dies After Being Taken to Hospital
Following the attack, officers of the Pantami Divisional Patrol Team reportedly rushed Aishatu Salisu to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe.
However, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The police subsequently launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those allegedly responsible for the attack.

Police Recover Sharp Knife
The Gombe State Police Command said preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the two suspects.
The command further stated that the suspects confessed during preliminary investigation to their alleged involvement in the crime.
A sharp knife was also reportedly recovered and taken as an exhibit as investigators continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Case Transferred to SCID
The police said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The move is expected to enable detectives to conduct a more detailed investigation and determine the extent of each suspect’s alleged involvement.
The suspects remain allegations at this stage, pending the conclusion of the investigation and any subsequent court proceedings.
Gombe Police Order Thorough Investigation
The Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, directed detectives to conduct a discreet and thorough investigation into the incident.
He also ordered investigators to ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice in accordance with the law.
The command urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements and activities to the police.
