Ghana has launched a new digital application designed to help prospective couples confirm whether their partners are legally married before entering into a new marriage.
The application, Marrify, was unveiled by the country’s Ministry of Gender as part of efforts to promote transparency, informed decision-making and responsible relationships.
The launch ceremony was attended by Ghana’s Minister of Gender, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey.
Developed in collaboration with MarryRight, an agency specialising in family law and marriage-related matters, Marrify provides prospective couples with access to information that can assist them in verifying their partners’ marital status before tying the knot.

Speaking at the launch, Lartey said the platform would empower individuals with relevant information to make better-informed decisions before committing to marriage.
She explained that Marrify is also intended to promote relationships founded on honesty, respect and responsibility, while helping to reduce circumstances that could contribute to gender-based violence.
The minister described the initiative as an opportunity for prospective couples to approach marriage with greater awareness and accountability, stressing the importance of making informed decisions before entering into a lifelong commitment.
The introduction of Marrify marks another step towards using digital tools to strengthen transparency and safeguard individuals within marriage and family relationships.
