Five dismissed police officers have pleaded not guilty to charges arising from the alleged extrajudicial killing of Delta-based musician Oghenemine Ogidi, popularly known as “OG Million,” during their arraignment before the Delta State High Court in Asaba.

Key Highlights

  • Five dismissed police officers arraigned over the alleged extrajudicial killing of musician OG Million.
  • Former ASP Usman Nuhu faces a murder charge, while four others are charged with negligent acts causing harm.
  • All five defendants pleaded not guilty before the Delta State High Court.
  • Trial scheduled to commence on July 14, 2026.
  • Delta State Attorney-General vows diligent prosecution and assures the public that justice will be pursued.

The dismissed officers appeared before Justice M. Nduka of the Delta State High Court 4 in Asaba over the incident, which occurred on April 26, 2026, at Effurun Main Motor Park in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The case attracted widespread public attention after a graphic video circulated on social media, allegedly showing Ogidi being shot at close range while his hands were tied behind his back.

The defendants, who have all been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force, are former Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Usman Nuhu, also known as “Ogbegbe,” former ASP Owoloko Daurou Pamo, former ASP Okoh Kelechi, Inspector Goodluck Kingsley, and Inspector Omonigho Ahweyevu.

According to the charges, former ASP Usman Nuhu is facing a one-count charge of murder punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. C21, Volume 1, Laws of Delta State, 2006.

The remaining four defendants were charged with negligent acts causing harm contrary to Section 344 of the same law.

When the charges were read in court, all five defendants pleaded not guilty.

Following the arraignment, Justice Nduka adjourned the matter until July 14, 2026, for the commencement of trial.

Speaking to journalists after the proceedings, Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole (SAN), who is leading the prosecution, said the state was fully prepared to prosecute the case.

“The defendants have been arraigned and have taken their pleas, as they are entitled to do. They pleaded not guilty, but our case is very straightforward. Nobody has the right to make himself the accuser, the judge and the executioner,” he said.

Describing the incident as “abhorrent,” the Attorney-General assured members of the public that the prosecution would diligently pursue the matter.

“We are fully prepared for the trial. I assure the public that justice will be served,” he added.
Counsel to two of the defendants, C. Promise, also confirmed that the defence team was ready for trial.

“They have taken their pleas and the matter has been adjourned to July 14. We will return to court on that date for the trial,” the lawyer said.

According to the prosecution, Ogidi was intercepted at Effurun Main Motor Park while allegedly attempting to send a parcel containing a Beretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition to a recipient in Sapele.

The prosecution further alleged that instead of being taken into lawful custody and subjected to due process, the 28-year-old musician was restrained with his hands tied behind his back before he was fatally shot in public by former ASP Usman Nuhu using an AK-47 rifle.
The trial is expected to commence on July 14, 2026.
