The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Gombe State Command, has contained a fire outbreak that destroyed property estimated at N80 million in two residential flats at Yalenguruza Quarters, opposite MacConnels Hotel, Gombe State.

The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASF MB Mu’azu.
According to the statement, the fire service received a distress call at about 3:03pm and dispatched an FFS 215 Multipurpose Water Tender from the ATM Fire Station approximately five minutes later.
Firefighters arrived at the location around 3:15pm and found that the flames had spread across two separate residential flats containing several rooms.
The response team immediately began firefighting operations and eventually brought the blaze under control using a medium jet connected to the water tender.
The command said the quick intervention prevented the fire from spreading to other properties and helped protect assets estimated at about N150 million.
No death or injury was recorded in the incident, according to the fire service.
The operation was led by ASF I. Gambo Mohammed, with ASFII Mu’azu Tagwai serving as the driver, alongside other personnel.

The Gombe State Fire Service and officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the Gona Division also assisted in the emergency response.
After extinguishing the fire, firefighters conducted an inspection of the affected buildings and confirmed that there was no remaining fire or immediate danger.
The fire service personnel and equipment were subsequently withdrawn from the scene and returned to the station at about 5:38pm.
The command urged residents to take basic fire prevention measures seriously, particularly in homes and other residential buildings.
It also advised members of the public to report fire emergencies immediately to the nearest fire station to ensure a rapid response and reduce the risk of further loss of lives and property.
