Businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has dismissed speculation that he has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after a viral video showed him singing the party’s campaign anthem, “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand,” alongside Seyi Tinubu.
Key Highlights:
- Isaac Fayose denied claims that he has defected to the APC after a viral video showed him singing the party’s campaign anthem with Seyi Tinubu.
- Fayose insisted he remains “101% Obidient” despite his cordial relationship with President Bola Tinubu’s son.
- He said the gathering was a private meeting where politics, national issues and other matters were discussed before prayers were offered.
- Fayose stressed that praying for President Tinubu or being friends with his family does not amount to joining the APC.
- He dismissed allegations of receiving money to switch political allegiance, saying his political beliefs are not for sale.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, sparked reactions among supporters and political observers, with many questioning whether the outspoken commentator had abandoned the Obidient Movement for the ruling APC.
Responding to the controversy, Fayose insisted that his political allegiance remains unchanged, declaring that he is still “101% Obidient” despite maintaining a cordial relationship with President Bola Tinubu’s son.
According to him, he spent the evening with Seyi Tinubu, Cubana Chief Priest and a few other guests at a private gathering where they discussed politics, national issues and other matters before concluding the meeting with prayers.
Fayose explained that as he was leaving the venue, Seyi Tinubu accompanied him to his vehicle, where they prayed together, including offering prayers for President Bola Tinubu.
He stressed that praying for the President or maintaining a friendship with members of the Tinubu family should not be interpreted as joining the APC.

“That doesn’t mean I’m in APC. I’m still 101% Obidient. Tinubu’s family are my family. I love Tinubu, but I told them we’re still going to win them. This is politics without hate,” he said.
Fayose also dismissed allegations that he received financial inducement to switch political loyalty, insisting he has no reason to accept money in exchange for his political beliefs.
He maintained that politics should not destroy family relationships or genuine friendships, arguing that people can hold different political opinions without becoming enemies.
Despite his clarification, the video has continued to generate mixed reactions online. While some social media users believe his explanation settles the matter, others argue that his public appearance alongside key APC figures sends conflicting political signals.
