A stalwart of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), John Akpanudoedehe has called on members of the party in Akwa Ibom State to remain steadfast and avoid joining the growing wave of defections to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
Akpanudoedehe, a former interim national secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said the directive was necessary to safeguard the stability and focus of the ADC in the state as preparations intensify ahead of upcoming elections.
Speaking in Uyo, the state capital, the former minister of state for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), warned party leaders, elders, and stakeholders against being swayed by political trends or acting for public applause.
Instead, he urged them to stay committed to the party’s core objective of providing credible opposition and holding the ruling APC accountable.

He reaffirmed his personal commitment to the ADC, emphasizing unity within the party and dismissing speculations of internal cracks.
“We are united and focused. We joined the ADC on our own terms, and we remain confident and intact.
“Our members are solid, and everyone has the constitutional right to belong to any group they choose. None of our followers is leaving,” he stated.
Akpanudoedehe’s remarks come at a time of heightened political movement across party lines, as key actors reposition ahead of future electoral contests.
