EFCC explains why VeryDarkMan was arrested, set for arraignment

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has explained that the anti-graft commission arrested popular social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), following multiple petitions filed against him.

In a statement to BBC News Pidgin on Monday, EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale disclosed that the activist was taken into custody due to allegations raised by several petitioners.

“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,” Oyewale stated.

When questioned about whether the case was linked to Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), the EFCC spokesperson clarified that the petitions came from different individuals and emphasized the agency’s duty to protect complainants.

Oyewale confirmed that the EFCC is preparing to charge VeryDarkMan in court.

Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, is a controversial social media personality who gained attention for his outspoken commentary on Nigerian socio-political and entertainment issues.

His arrest has sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporters demanding his release while others back the EFCC’s investigation.
