Political activist Aisha Yesufu has expressed frustration over Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s recent interview on Channels Television, describing it as repetitive and urging Nigerians to focus on the country’s broader political challenges ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a video shared on X on Monday, Yesufu said she felt “irritated” after watching Obi’s interview with Channels Television anchor Seun Okinbaloye, arguing that the discussion offered no new insights.
According to her, most of the questions posed during the interview had been asked repeatedly in the past, making the conversation unproductive.
“I just feel irritated by the whole thing. I really am absolutely feeling irritated,” she said.
Yesufu maintained that there was little left for Nigerians to learn about Obi through repeated media appearances.
“It’s the same conversation again and again. I don’t think there’s any question that Seun asked Peter Obi that has not already been asked.”
She also questioned what she described as the unequal scrutiny faced by the former Anambra State governor compared to other presidential hopefuls.
According to the activist, Obi continues to face intense questioning while other candidates, including President Bola Tinubu, are rarely subjected to similar public interviews.
Yesufu further defended Obi against criticism over his comments regarding Muslim commissioners during his tenure as governor of Anambra State.
She clarified that Obi was referring to Commissioners of Police and not members of his state executive council, insisting his remarks had been misinterpreted.
The activist urged Nigerians to shift attention from repeatedly interrogating Obi to ensuring credible leadership emerges in the 2027 elections.

She argued that citizens should elect competent leaders first and hold them accountable based on their performance in office rather than endlessly debating campaign interviews.
Recalling a discussion with a Nigerian resident in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, Yesufu said voters should assess leaders after they assume office and replace them if they fail to deliver.
Concluding her remarks, she reiterated that the interview was frustrating because it revisited familiar issues instead of addressing Nigeria’s pressing governance and economic challenges.
She called on Nigerians to take the upcoming elections seriously, warning that the country’s problems would persist unless citizens actively participate in choosing capable leaders.
