Activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has blasted the administration of President Bola Tinubu over the rising cost of fuel, describing the current economic situation as unbearable for many Nigerians.

Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, Adeyanju questioned the widespread praise of the president as a “master strategist,” arguing that such claims do not reflect the realities faced by ordinary citizens.

According to him, the sharp increase in petrol prices, now nearing ₦2,000 per litre in some areas, has worsened economic hardship across the country.

“Fuel is almost ₦2,000 and people are still calling Tinubu the master strategist. Master of strategy in what exactly?” he said.

Adeyanju blamed the removal of fuel subsidy for the surge in prices, noting that petrol remains a critical driver of daily economic activities, especially transportation.

He called on the federal government to urgently reconsider its policy and restore the subsidy to ease the burden on Nigerians.

“The president should bring back the fuel subsidy because the economy is suffering.

“If he brings it back today, fuel prices will drop, and most of what we do in Nigeria is tied to petrol,” he added.

The activist also took a swipe at political leaders, alleging that government officials are benefiting while citizens struggle with rising costs.
