Nigerian football legend Daniel Amokachi has been unveiled as the new Pan-African Brand Ambassador for sports betting company 22Bet, in a partnership aimed at promoting youth empowerment, grassroots football development and community-focused initiatives across Africa.

The former Super Eagles captain was officially presented on Wednesday in Lagos at an event attended by football stakeholders, business leaders, sports personalities and members of the media.

The appointment strengthens 22Bet’s growing network of African football ambassadors, which already includes former Togo captain Emmanuel Adebayor and Kenyan football icon Victor Wanyama.

Beyond brand promotion, the company said the partnership will focus on corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes designed to improve lives through football development, education, healthy lifestyle campaigns and support for vulnerable communities.

Speaking at the unveiling, Amokachi described the collaboration as an opportunity to make a meaningful impact across Nigeria and the continent.

“I am delighted to join the 22Bet family. This is not an ordinary relationship, but one that is designed to make a positive impact on the lives of people in Nigeria and across Africa,” he said.

The 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner and Atlanta 1996 Olympic gold medallist added that he was particularly committed to initiatives that create opportunities for young people.

“I am more interested in doing something in Nigeria and Africa where we can make a big impact on people’s lives through CSR programmes that I have already been involved in, and that 22Bet has also been carrying out. It is gratifying to make an impact on the lives of your own people, especially through football, which has given me so much.”

Widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s greatest footballers, Amokachi enjoyed a distinguished career that saw him win the 1994 AFCON, claim Olympic gold with the Super Eagles in Atlanta 1996, and lift the FA Cup with Everton in 1995. He also enjoyed successful spells with Club Brugge in Belgium and Beşiktaş in Turkey.

According to 22Bet, the partnership will support football clinics, educational initiatives, mentorship programmes for young players and projects aimed at discovering the next generation of football talent across Africa.

22Bet Nigeria Director of Operations, Oluwafemi Olobayo, said Amokachi’s influence and leadership made him the ideal ambassador for the company’s social impact initiatives.

“We are delighted that Daniel Amokachi has agreed to join the 22Bet family. Together, we want to make a meaningful impact in underserved communities while helping discover new football talents in Nigeria and beyond,” he said.

Country Manager Ogunfuye Fikayo also described the appointment as a significant milestone, noting that Amokachi’s leadership qualities and commitment to youth development align with the company’s long-term vision of using football as a tool for positive social change across Africa.
