The Dangote Refinery is set to roll out the distribution of refined petrol to retail outlets nationwide, starting tomorrow Sunday, September 15th 2024. This milestone is poised to impact fuel availability across the country.
Sources close to the refinery have confirmed that the refinery will initially supply 25 million litres of petrol daily, despite Nigeria’s daily demand hovering between 40-50 million litres. The fuel will be distributed through NNPC Trading Limited at a cost of N765.99 per litre, with no change expected in the current pump price for consumers.
Despite concerns about rising fuel prices, insiders have assured that the pump price will remain unchanged, ranging between N855 to N897 per litre, depending on the region. Marketers are set to purchase the refined petrol at N765.99, allowing them to maintain current price levels at the pump.

To meet the nation’s fuel demand, NNPC Trading Limited will continue to import an additional 15 million litres daily, ensuring that the country’s petrol supply remains steady during this initial phase.
Marketers have already been instructed to mobilize their trucks to the refinery, preparing for a seamless transition once distribution kicks off. According to sources, each marketer will be allocated a maximum of 50 trucks daily, ready to lift fuel and distribute it to outlets across Nigeria.
Looking ahead, the Dangote Refinery is expected to ramp up its daily allocation to 30 million litres starting next month. This will involve marketers collecting fuel via vessels, further boosting the supply chain and meeting a larger portion of the country’s demand.
