A Lagos Court has delayed hearing in the case involving the leader of the Honeywell Group, Oba Otudeko along with several others, who are facing charges related to an alleged fraud amounting to N12.3 billion.
A post on the official X handle of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, said the hearing originally set for May 8, 2025, has now been rescheduled for June 11, 2025.
The EFCC said the judge handling the case, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, wants to see if the parties involved could reach a settlement before proceeding with the case.
Otudeko is being charged with a crime alongside a former Managing Director of First Bank Plc, Olabisi Onasanya, a previous board member of Honeywell, Soji Akintayo, and a company called Anchorage Leisure Limited.
They are accused of misleading actions that supposedly led to the loss of the significant amount of money.

During the last court session on March 17, 2025, Otudeko’s lawyer mentioned that a meeting had taken place among all the parties to explore the possibility of resolving the issue without further legal action.
This meeting was set for April 9, 2025, and the lawyer requested that the court schedule a new date after that meeting to see if an agreement could be reached.
At the most recent session, the defense attorney shared that discussions for a settlement are still ongoing, and they have not yet reached a conclusion.
The prosecution agreed and asked the judge to postpone the case until a settlement report or arraignment can be provided.
As a result, the case has been delayed until June 11, 2025, when the judge will check on the progress of the settlement discussions or consider moving forward with the arraignment.
