Construction activities have commenced at the Taraba State College of Agriculture, Science, and Technology, signalling a long-awaited revitalization of the institution’s infrastructure.
Established by the defunct Gongola state government in 1979, the college has struggled with neglect, evident in overgrown weeds and dilapidated facilities.
Hostel accommodations were insufficient, and access roads were in poor condition, forcing students and staff to endure challenging commutes.
The administrative block, a vital hub for staff operations, was infested with reptiles due to its deteriorating state.
Provost Yakubu Garjila lamented the years of neglect, noting that previous memos addressing infrastructural decay went unheeded until the current governor, Dr. Agbu Kafes, assumed office.
Garjila outlined approved projects for immediate action, including hostel renovations, road repairs, and upgrading the administrative block.
