Christians under the umbrella of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Mubi chapter in Adamawa State on Sunday, staged a peaceful protest to demand urgent action against the growing wave of insecurity, killings, kidnappings, and violent attacks affecting communities across the country.

Key Highlights:

  • Christians in Mubi staged a peaceful protest against killings and kidnappings.
  • Protesters demanded urgent action from government and security agencies.
  • They condemned rising insecurity, attacks, and abductions.
  • Calls were made for stronger security operations and justice for victims.
  • Participants urged authorities to restore peace and protect communities.

The demonstrators, carrying placards bearing messages such as “Enough Is Enough,” “Stop the Killings,” and “End Kidnappings Now,” called on government at all levels and security agencies to take decisive measures to safeguard lives and property.

Among those who participated in the protest were members of EYN (Church of the Brethren in Nigeria), who joined other Christian faithful in expressing concern over the persistent bloodshed and insecurity that have continued to claim innocent lives in several parts of the country.

The protesters marched peacefully, offering prayers and solidarity messages while urging leaders at all levels to prioritize the security and welfare of citizens.

They lamented the increasing incidents of abductions, attacks on communities, and killings, which they said have left many families devastated and living in fear.

Speaking during the protest, participants stressed that Nigerians deserve to live in peace and security without the constant threat of violence.

They called for improved intelligence gathering, strengthened security operations, and the prosecution of those responsible for criminal acts.

The demonstrators maintained that the loss of innocent lives had become unacceptable and appealed to the federal government, state governments, and security agencies to intensify efforts aimed at restoring peace across affected communities.

Members of EYN reiterated their commitment to peace and national unity while urging authorities to act swiftly to halt the cycle of violence.

They noted that many communities have suffered repeated attacks, leading to displacement, destruction of property, and loss of livelihoods.

The protest remained orderly throughout, with participants emphasizing that their action was intended to draw attention to the urgent need for lasting solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges.

Their message echoed loudly throughout the demonstration: “Stop the killings. Stop the kidnappings. Stop the shedding of innocent blood.”

Mubi is one of the largest communities in Adamawa State with two local government areas which are Mubi North and Mubi South.

It is however one of the worst hit communities in the state by insurgency.

In 2024, attacks by Boko Haram terrorists led to hundreds being killed, including students while thousands fled their homes, and many are still missing.

The peaceful rally adds to growing calls from religious leaders, civil society groups, and concerned citizens for stronger measures to address insecurity and protect vulnerable communities across the country.
