Artisan’s whereabout unknown after fall from 3-storey building

...Police probe lawyer over incident

Police authorities in Lagos have been urged to do deep investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the whereabout of an Artisan, who was contracted by a Lawyer, Mr Lanre Okunade, to effect repairs in parts of a building situated at No 40, Diya Street, Gbagada Lagos.

In an exclusive interview with our correspondent, one of the Landlords of the building, Mrs Mojisola Adebayo, nee Osinuga, accused the Lawyer, Mr Lanre Okunade, as responsible for the whereabout of the Artisan, as the Lawyer was the only one in the building, and had refused to quit despite notice to quit served him many years back.

According to her, the Lawyer contracted the Artian to work on top of the building. Unfortunately, his legs slipped and he fell down, thereby sustaining serious degrees of injuries. The Lawyer took him to two different hospitals, where he was rejected.

She noted that neighbours are worried over the present state of the Artisan. The Landlord, who is also the first child of her father and owner of the building, told our correspondent that the property was built in 1984 and is now old, hence, needed urgent repairs, based on advice from the Material Testing Agency and Environmental Agency Lagos State.

She noted that based on this, all tenants where served notice to quit many years back, but only the Lawyer refused to quit the building, using all legal means to frustrate the Landlords since 2008, when he entered the house.

The landlord who suspected fowl play over the life of the Artisan, has lodged a complaint at the Ifako Police Station in Gbagada, to probe the only tenant in the building, Mr Lanre Okunade, over the sudden disappearance of the Artisan.
