Fresh tension has erupted within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, following allegations that the party’s primary election committee failed to conduct the House of Representatives primary for the Gombi-Hong Federal Constituency.

Aggrieved party delegates claimed that representatives from all 22 wards in the constituency had gathered at the designated venue and waited for hours for the arrival of the committee assigned to oversee the exercise.

Key Highlights:

  • Tension arose within the All Progressives Congress in Adamawa State over the House of Representatives primary for Gombi-Hong Constituency.
  • Delegates claimed the primary committee failed to show up at the venue after arriving in the area.
  • The committee was alleged to have turned back from Song Local Government Area without conducting the election.
  • Party members rejected any potential result not based on a proper, physical voting process.
  • The controversy has sparked internal protests and demands for clarification from APC leadership ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to party members, the committee allegedly turned back from Song Local Government Area without reaching Gombi-Hong, leaving delegates stranded and uncertain about the fate of the primary election.

The incident has triggered anger among APC loyalists, many of whom accused party leaders of attempting to frustrate the democratic process and deny delegates the opportunity to participate in a transparent primary.

Some party stakeholders warned that any candidate declared winner without the physical conduct of the primary election in the constituency would be strongly resisted.

Delegates at the venue reportedly insisted that any result announced in the absence of the official committee and accredited voting process would be regarded as illegal, fraudulent and unacceptable.

The controversy has further heightened political tension within the ruling party in Adamawa State ahead of the forthcoming general elections, with supporters demanding immediate clarification from the APC leadership over the stalled exercise.
