An All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Ughelli North Constituency II in the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Umukoro Oghenevwarhe, has urged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, to guarantee a free, fair and inclusive primary ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oghenevwarhe said he is making the plea, as both a call for the enthronement of internal democracy within the APC and a statement of readiness, positioning himself as a leading contender for the seat.
He argued that opening the process to all qualified aspirants would not only deepen party cohesion, but also allow the APC to present its strongest candidate to the electorate.
“I have obtained my expression of interest form in good faith,” he stated, adding that many committed party members are eager to participate in the race.
He maintained that his aspiration is rooted in a clear agenda for effective representation and grassroots development across Ughelli North Constituency II.
The Uwheru-born politician, cautioned that any attempt to restrict access to nomination forms could alienate loyal party members and weaken the APC’s base at the grassroots level.

By contrast, he said, a transparent contest would energize supporters and reinforce confidence in the party’s leadership.
Projecting confidence in his acceptance across the constituency, Oghenevwarhe suggested that a level playing field would naturally produce a candidate with the credibility, structure and grassroots connection required to win.
He appealed to the governor’s “fatherly role” and sense of fairness, expressing optimism that Gov. Oborevwori would act in the best interest of the party by ensuring equal opportunity for all aspirants.
Oghenevwarhe is seeking to represent Ughelli North Constituency II, a seat currently held by a lawmaker from Uwheru, his home community.
