The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved projects and programmes worth more than ₦78 billion at its 14th meeting of 2026, with major allocations targeting education, traditional institutions and the financing of government contracts.

The meeting, chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Yola, also featured discussions on the security situation in parts of the state.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barrister Leader Leneke, said the Council approved ₦99.27 million for the supply of instructional materials to secondary schools across Adamawa.
He explained that the procurement, presented by the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, is aimed at improving access to essential teaching and learning materials and enhancing the quality of education in public secondary schools.
₦1.34bn Approved for Emir’s Residence
The Council also approved ₦1.34 billion for the purchase of an existing residential property in Fufore, which will be converted into the official residence of the Emir of Fufore Chiefdom.
Leneke said the decision formed part of the administration’s broader efforts to provide appropriate official residences for traditional rulers across the state.
He added that similar interventions had been approved for other chiefdoms and emirates in Adamawa.
Adamawa Approves ₦77bn Contractors Financing Scheme
Another major decision was the approval of a ₦77 billion Zenith Bank Contractors Financing Scheme for Adamawa State.
According to Leneke, the one-year financing arrangement, presented by the Ministry of Finance, is designed to provide contractors executing government projects with access to funds and minimise delays in project implementation.
He said the initiative would also strengthen the state’s capacity to meet its financial obligations to contractors and ensure that ongoing projects are completed within reasonable timelines.
Leneke reaffirmed the government’s commitment to paying contractors promptly, insisting that the administration does not intentionally withhold payments for completed or ongoing projects.

Adamawa Council Raises Security Concerns
The Council also expressed concern over recent security incidents and killings reported in different parts of Adamawa, including a recent incident in Gombi Local Government Area.
Leneke said the state government was working with relevant security agencies to strengthen measures aimed at protecting lives and property.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious individuals, movements and activities to the appropriate security authorities.
The Commissioner further called for stronger collaboration between communities and security agencies, stressing that timely information and collective vigilance remain critical to preventing crime and safeguarding communities across Adamawa State.
