According to a voice note shared alongside the report, a woman who claimed to live in the area alleged that the victim’s sister had travelled and left her in the care of her boyfriend.
The suspect reportedly made sexual advances toward the woman, but she allegedly rejected him before he pushed her from the two-storey building.
The incident reportedly attracted the attention of residents, who allegedly apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the Imo State Police Command to prevent possible mob action.
Videos circulating online showed a crowd gathered at the scene, while a shirtless man wearing red shorts was seen being led away by some individuals.
The footage also showed a figure lying on the ground, although the victim’s condition and the full circumstances surrounding the incident have not been independently established.
Nigerians React
The development has sparked reactions on social media, with several Nigerians condemning the alleged attack and calling for greater discipline and self-control among young people.
Reacting to the incident, X user @japhman called on parents to teach their sons sexual discipline and self-control from an early age.
“Parents need to start teaching their sons self-control and sexual discipline from their teenage years. Too many young men are allowing lust to cloud their judgment, destroy their confidence, and dictate their actions,” he wrote.
“A man who cannot control his desires or accept rejection still has a lot of growing up to do. Discipline starts at home!”
Another user, @Chimeziefr, expressed disbelief over the alleged attack, questioning why the suspect would resort to violence after the woman rejected his advances.
“Some guys are very demonic, the girl wasn’t your girlfriend, wasn’t your sex mate, wasn’t your wife, even though she was any of three I mentioned and you wanted to have intercourse with her and she refused, you threw her down from upstairs?” he wrote.
He further criticised what he described as a lack of discipline and self-control among some young people, adding that the suspect could spend a considerable time in prison if found guilty.

However, @EBUBEDIKEfO questioned the gender-related framing of reactions to the incident, writing: “I like how the comments are now realizing that men and women are not the same, they even use femicide instead of homicide just to make it a gender thing.”
The user further argued that people should maintain consistency in how they discuss gender-related issues.
Meanwhile, @dukema lamented what he described as the growing preoccupation of Nigerian youths with relationships and sexual matters at the expense of other interests.
“And whats wrong with our youths nowadays, always sex, relationship, love, man and woman matter. No sciences, technology invention, sports and outdoor clubs and organisations?” he wrote.
“Always sex tik tok, babe, relationship, toto, prickly, hook up, yahoo? My God, save Nigerian youths.”
