The disclosures were made public during a press briefing addressed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Suleiman Nguroje, where several suspects were paraded and details of the cases presented.
Kidnap Attempt Foiled In Song
One of the major highlights was a failed kidnapping operation at Dadin Kowa Village in Song Local Government Area.
According to the police, on October 29, 2026, a gang of approximately five suspected kidnappers invaded the residence of Alhaji Musa in an attempt to abduct him.
Their operation, however, was disrupted after residents raised an alarm, prompting a swift response from police officers working alongside local hunters.
The ensuing confrontation reportedly resulted in the neutralisation of one suspected kidnapper, while the other members of the gang escaped with suspected gunshot injuries.
An AK-47 rifle and 10 expended ammunition shells were recovered at the scene.
The police said a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fleeing suspects, assuring residents that efforts were ongoing to ensure that everyone connected to the attempted abduction is brought to justice.
Rape, Witchcraft Killing Cases
Beyond the kidnapping incident, another disturbing case involves a 67-year-old man, identified as Aliyu Bakari, who was arrested over the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to having sexually assaulted the minor on three occasions and appealed for mercy and forgiveness.
The police said investigations into the case were ongoing.
Perhaps one of the most disturbing cases presented during the briefing involved a woman and her son, who were arrested in connection with the alleged killing of another woman accused of witchcraft.
The female suspect reportedly told investigators that she attacked the deceased because she believed the woman was responsible for her personal misfortunes.
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing and the alleged involvement of the suspects.
