The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, announced the decision in a statement on Friday, following Makinde’s meeting with stakeholders at the hospital on Thursday.
According to the statement, the salary adjustment was approved after the cleaners appealed directly to the governor during his visit to the facility.

Makinde Appeals to Striking Hospital Workers
The salary increase comes amid an ongoing industrial dispute involving workers at the teaching hospital, with the governor appealing to striking employees to suspend their action and allow his administration to address their grievances.
Makinde stressed the importance of dialogue in resolving the dispute, urging the workers to call off the strike as a first step towards further discussions.
“Initially, I didn’t want to respond to those who are on strike. But if there are challenges, we must find ways to solve them. You put this government in place. The governor’s remarks underscore his administration’s position that industrial disputes should be addressed through engagement between the government and affected workers.
