Brazilian mixed martial artist Natalia Silva has become the new UFC women’s flyweight champion after defeating China’s Wang Cong by unanimous decision at UFC 332 in Salt Lake City, United States.
Silva won the vacant UFC women’s flyweight title after completing five rounds against Wang, with all three judges scoring the contest in her favour.

Silva entered the contest as the favourite after initially being scheduled to challenge former champion Valentina Shevchenko for the title.
However, Shevchenko was forced to relinquish the championship because of injury, paving the way for Silva and Wang to compete for the vacant belt.
The 29-year-old Brazilian controlled much of the five-round contest and secured the victory after the judges awarded her scores of 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46.
The result extended Silva’s unbeaten streak to 15 fights, dating back to 2017.

Speaking after the fight, an emotional Silva urged her supporters to continue pursuing their ambitions.
“Don’t give up on anything,” Silva said during her post-fight interview.
The new champion described the victory as the beginning of a new stage in her career.
“This is the beginning of Natalia Silva. I’m the new queen,” she added.
Silva also acknowledged the quality of Wang’s performance, saying the contest demonstrated why the Chinese fighter had earned the opportunity to compete for the championship.
Shevchenko Sends Warning to New Champion
Former champion Valentina Shevchenko congratulated Silva following her victory but indicated that she intends to reclaim the UFC flyweight title when she returns from injury.
“Well deserved Natalia! Congratulations,” Shevchenko wrote on X, while warning the new champion not to become too comfortable with the belt.
The message sets up the possibility of a future title fight between Silva and Shevchenko.
Silva-Wang Fight Makes UFC History
The contest marked a significant moment for women’s mixed martial arts.
It was the UFC’s first women’s main event since Mackenzie Dern defeated Amanda Ribas in January 2025.
It was also the first time two women headlined one of the UFC’s numbered flagship events since June 2023, when Amanda Nunes defeated Irene Aldana.
The Silva-Wang contest therefore added another milestone to the growing history of women’s MMA in the UFC.

Johnny Walker Stops Mick Parkin
Elsewhere on the UFC 332 card, Britain’s Mick Parkin suffered a knockout defeat to Brazil’s Johnny Walker.
Parkin’s outing lasted less than four minutes before Walker secured the stoppage in the heavyweight contest.
The victory marked Walker’s heavyweight debut and added another notable result to the UFC 332 card.
