The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from the 2021 to 2025 admission exercises to November 30, 2026.

Key Highlights

  • JAMB has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding 2021–2025 admission offers to November 30, 2026.
  • The extension follows the temporary unavailability of the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for about 96 hours.
  • Candidates must accept or reject their outstanding offers before the new deadline.
  • JAMB warned that November 30 is the final deadline for the affected candidates.
  • Candidates who fail to act will have their outstanding offers reverted to “Not Admitted.”

The board said the extension follows the temporary unavailability of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS)Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS)  for about 96 hours, giving affected candidates another opportunity to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers.

JAMB had initially extended the deadline to September 30, 2026, but said its management approved the new date following the disruption to the CAPS platform.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board described November 30 as the final deadline for candidates in the affected category to indicate whether they wish to accept or reject their outstanding offers.

JAMB warned that candidates who fail to take action by the deadline will no longer be allowed to accept or reject the offers within the current window.

It added that any subsequent request to update an admission record relating to the affected admission years would attract the applicable penalty fee.

According to the board, the decision is particularly important for candidates whose admissions are not reflected on the matriculation list, as failure to properly document their admissions could affect their access to certain benefits, including participation in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

JAMB therefore urged all affected candidates to act immediately rather than wait until the deadline.

The board explained that candidates who accept their outstanding offers would be able to proceed to print their admission letters.

Those who reject their offers, it said, would have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted,” allowing JAMB to update its records and ensure that its national admission database accurately reflects their current status.

JAMB further clarified that candidates who are no longer studying at the institutions where they were previously offered admission, or who are currently studying a different programme, may accept the outstanding admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the previous admission where applicable.

The board said this would enable it to properly update the candidates’ admission status and records.

It added that candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who still have an unaccepted admission offer from a previous admission exercise could reject the old offer and continue with their current programme.

JAMB also reassured candidates who received admission offers in the 2026 admission exercise but still have outstanding offers from earlier years that rejecting the previous offers would not affect their 2026 admissions.

The board said the extension was intended not only to compensate for the period during which CAPS was unavailable but also to give all affected candidates a final opportunity to regularise their admission records.

JAMB reiterated that November 30, 2026, is the final deadline for accepting or rejecting outstanding admissions from the 2021 to 2025 admission exercises.

It warned that after the deadline, all outstanding offers from those years that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically revert to “Not Admitted” on the board’s records.

The board also reminded candidates that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period could render the offer invalid.
