The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a supplementary budget of N169.106 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, raising the state’s total budget for the year to N752.437 billion.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Leader Leneke, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the 16th meeting of the State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri at the Government House, Yola.
Leneke said the supplementary budget became necessary following the state’s access to additional funds from the federation account beginning in September.
He explained that the additional funds could not be expended without being captured through a supplementary appropriation, adding that the funds have been allocated to various Ministries, Departments and Agencies based on the needs and priorities of residents.
According to him, the supplementary budget is intended to ensure that the additional funds are properly appropriated and utilised for the benefit of the people.
The council also approved several major development projects covering roads, drainage, healthcare, electricity, education and other critical infrastructure across the state.
Among the approvals was N6.307 billion for the supply and installation of integrated solar-powered streetlights along the Superhighway and the 1,000 Housing Estate in Malkohi.
The council also approved N690.982 million for the renovation of the main hospital and staff quarters at the Cottage Hospital, Lamurde.
In the health sector, N1.783 billion was approved for the procurement of medical equipment, including an ultrasound scan, S11 Plus and FibroScan 360, while another N462.819 million was approved for the procurement of a dialysis machine.
For infrastructure, the council approved N484.123 million for the construction of a stormwater drain at Angwan Magaji in Yola South Local Government Area.
It also approved N11.314 billion for township roads and stormwater drains in Gula, road networks at the College of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Studies in Gulak, and Shuwa township roads I and II.
Similarly, N3.217 billion was approved for the construction of storm drains and road networks at the Mubi Cattle Market, while N3.684 billion was approved for access roads and internal road networks within the new Building Materials Market, along the Numan Road axis.
Another N376.971 million was approved for the construction of a 4-metre by 1.2-metre stormwater drain at the newly constructed NYSC Orientation Camp in Malkohi.
The council further approved N10.510 billion for the construction of internal and external roads, road networks, parking areas and other infrastructure around the state’s new stadium.
The government said the project was designed to provide the facilities required to make the stadium suitable for hosting international sporting events.
The council also approved N3.371 billion for the rehabilitation of electrical infrastructure in Madagali and Michika Local Government Areas.
The project, which will commence from Uba and extend to the affected areas in seven lots, will be handled by five contractors to facilitate speedy execution and quality delivery.
The government said the rehabilitation was expected to restore electricity to communities that had suffered prolonged power outages following the destruction of electricity infrastructure during the Boko Haram insurgency.

In another electricity project, the council approved N249.892 million for the extension of electricity supply to Bengun community in Fufore Local Government Area.
In the education sector, the council approved the award of a contract for the design, costing and supervision of 11 new male and female student hostels across the state’s five tertiary institutions at a cost of N358.5 million.
Meanwhile, the state government has appealed to residents, particularly those in riverine and flood-prone communities, to remain vigilant as the rainy season approaches its end and the risk of flooding increases.
The government urged residents to move to higher ground whenever necessary and take precautionary measures to protect lives and property.
