Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, ‘Operation HADIN KAI‘ have arrested four suspected Boko Haram terrorists following a night ambush in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation, conducted between September 15 and 22, 2026, also resulted in the surrender of 11 terrorists and the arrest of nine suspected drug dealers, according to the military.

Night Ambush in Gujba Local Government Area
Acting Military Information Officer, headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Capt. Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Maiduguri.
Goni said troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), laid an ambush east of Azare Village in Gujba Local Government Area at about 11 p.m. on September 21.
He said the troops made contact with suspected terrorists and engaged them in a firefight, forcing the terrorists to flee the area.
According to him, four suspected terrorists were subsequently arrested during the exploitation of the area, while blood traces found around the location suggested that some of the fleeing terrorists may have sustained injuries or suffered casualties.
Items recovered from the scene include four bicycles, a large quantity of groceries, one sheep and expended 7.62mm special ammunition cases.
The military spokesman said the suspects and recovered items have been taken into custody for further investigation, while troops continue to exploit the area.

Nine Suspected Drug Dealers Arrested in Buni Yadi
In a related operation, Goni said nine suspected drug dealers were arrested by troops during a routine patrol in Buni Yadi, also in Gujba Local Government Area on September 19.
He said the suspects were found with a large quantity of suspected illicit drugs and cannabis, two mobile phones and ₦85,900 cash.
The suspects and exhibits were subsequently handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Sustained Pressure on Terrorist Networks
The military said the operations were part of sustained efforts to disrupt terrorist and criminal networks and prevent activities capable of creating an enabling environment for terrorism and violent crime.
Goni added that the surrender of 11 terrorists and the recovery of a vehicle, ammunition and other logistics items during the period further demonstrate the impact of sustained military pressure on terrorist elements and their support networks.
He said ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ remains committed to maintaining operational momentum, disrupting terrorist and criminal networks and denying them freedom of action across the North-East.
