The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Tijjani Galadima, has formally launched his campaign for the 2027 governorship election, unveiling an economic blueprint anchored on inclusive governance, agricultural industrialisation and improved public services.

Galadima, who unveiled the agenda at a press conference marking the official commencement of his campaign, pledged to build an administration that would carry all segments of society along, including women, youths, children and persons with disabilities.

He said his proposed government would focus on creating an economy capable of generating employment, expanding the state’s revenue base and improving the living conditions of residents.

At the centre of his economic programme, Galadima said, would be an aggressive transformation of agriculture from subsistence production into a commercially viable and industrial value chain.

According to him, Adamawa State has the land, water resources, livestock, mineral deposits, youthful population and entrepreneurial citizens required to drive what he described as the “second transformation” of the state.

He proposed the establishment of agro-industrial hubs across the three senatorial zones, with the hubs linking farming communities to processing facilities, storage centres, packaging plants, electricity and logistics infrastructure.

The APC candidate also promised to expand irrigation, strengthen agricultural extension services, promote mechanisation and develop value chains around major agricultural commodities, including rice, maize, groundnut, cotton, soybeans, sesame, cassava and livestock.

He urged residents to abandon the practice of exporting raw agricultural products without adding value, stressing that greater emphasis should be placed on local processing and marketing.

Galadima said such a strategy would create employment opportunities, stimulate industrial growth and enable Adamawa to retain a larger share of the economic value generated from its agricultural resources.

He added that as farms become commercially viable businesses, industries emerge and markets become better organised, the state’s revenue base would naturally expand.

The candidate further pledged that taxpayers and businesses would see tangible benefits from their contributions through improved roads, schools, healthcare facilities, water supply and security.

On the mining sector, Galadima said his administration would seek to formalise artisanal and small-scale mining while encouraging local processing of mineral resources.

He, however, emphasised the need to protect host communities and the environment in the process of developing the sector.

Beyond economic development, Galadima said his administration would promote measurable performance in governance, with policies designed to deliver tangible results to residents across Adamawa.

He called on the electorate to make competence, productivity, investment and measurable performance the basis of their choice in the 2027 election.

Galadima also urged the people of the state to participate actively in the electoral process, expressing confidence that his proposed agenda would provide an inclusive government and unlock Adamawa’s economic potential.
