Investigators reportedly discovered Mbappé’s name on a list recovered from mobile phones seized from the suspect and members of his alleged network.

The list was said to contain the names of several wealthy business figures and personalities in the French rap industry, with authorities believing that a total of 26 individuals may have been identified as potential kidnapping targets.

Police are investigating the teenager’s alleged involvement in a series of home invasions and suspected kidnapping plots, some of which were reportedly carried out while others remained at different stages of planning.

The alleged activities are said to have occurred between April 11 and August 19 in several French towns, including Neuilly-sur-Seine, Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt and Santenay.

The 18-year-old remains in solitary confinement and pretrial detention as investigations continue.

An alleged accomplice was reportedly released under judicial supervision, although the decision was challenged before the Versailles investigating chamber on Wednesday.

Authorities are now working to establish how far each alleged plot had progressed and determine the specific roles played by the suspects.

Mbappé, 27, joined Spanish giants Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024 and remains one of the most high-profile footballers in world football.
