A woman identified as Chiomie has publicly withdrawn a rape allegation she made against Nigerian footballer Victor Ebele Jr., admitting that the footballer never raped her and apologising to him and his family.

In a video shared on social media, Chiomie revisited the allegation she made in August 2025, saying she was highly emotional at the time and acted wrongly.

“Hey buddy, my name is Chiomie. Sometime last year, August 2025, I made a post against Victor Ebele Jr. that he raped me. He never raped me, guys,” she said.

The woman also admitted that the controversy went beyond Victor, saying she dragged his brother, Frank Chiboy Ebele, and other members of the family into the matter.

“Along the line, when I made this post, due to how my emotions were flying so high, I dragged his brother, Frank Chiboy Ebele, into the mix. And not only that, his entire family. I defamed everybody,” she said.

Chiomie expressed remorse over the allegation and urged members of the public to stop associating Victor with rape.

“I’m really sorry and I regret all my actions. And I hope that you guys don’t take it up against him because Victor is not a rapist,” she added.

She also appealed to blogs and social media platforms that published or reposted her original allegation to take down the reports.

Specifically, she called on Instablog9ja to remove its previous posts, claiming the platform had reposted the allegation from her social media page.

“Instablog9ja took this post from my page and I would like everybody that can get through to them, please let them take this post down,” she said.

She similarly appealed to other platforms that circulated the allegation to delete their reports, saying the continued existence of the posts could cause further damage to Victor Ebele’s reputation.

The woman further apologised directly to the Ebele family, admitting that she took matters into her own hands instead of following what she described as the appropriate channels.

“I regret my actions. I was highly emotional at that time, which prompted me to take laws into my hands,” she said.

She added: “This is also me making a public apology to everyone in the family. I’m really sorry. I took laws into my hands. What I did was wrong and I didn’t take the right precautions to get what I wanted. I’m really, actually sorry.”

Her latest statement has now dramatically changed the narrative surrounding the controversy, with the woman herself explicitly stating that the footballer did not rape her and asking platforms that reported the original allegation to remove the content.

However, the retraction also raises questions about the consequences of serious allegations made publicly, particularly when such claims spread rapidly across blogs and social media before the facts surrounding them are established.

The latest development leaves Victor Ebele with a public apology in his favour, while the extent to which previously published reports and social media posts will be removed remains unclear.
