Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has provided about ₦30 million to support the aviation training of Enejoh Faith, helping the student complete her programme and advance her ambition of becoming a pilot.

Faith and her family visited the former governor on Monday night to express their appreciation for the financial support, which came after the family struggled to raise the funds needed for her aviation education.

Key Highlights

  • ₦30 million aviation support: Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello reportedly provided about ₦30 million to fund Enejoh Faith’s aviation training.
  • Pilot dream supported: The financial intervention enabled Faith to complete her training and pursue her ambition of becoming a pilot.
  • 89% pilot licence result: Faith reportedly scored 89% in her Public Pilot Licence examination.
  • Support began in 2025: Bello met Faith and her father in July 2025 after the family sought assistance with the cost of her aviation education.
  • Private intervention: According to Bello’s spokesperson, the support was provided privately without a public ceremony or media event.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Bello’s spokesperson, Onogwu Muhammed, the former governor first met Faith and her father on July 17, 2025, when they visited his residence to seek assistance.

Faith, who was wearing an aviation uniform during the visit, had secured admission for aviation training but faced difficulties meeting the financial requirements for registration and continuation of the programme.

Her father reportedly presented her admission letter and other relevant documents to Bello and explained the family’s financial situation.

Bello subsequently offered to take responsibility for the cost of Faith’s aviation training.

Muhammed said the programme cost approximately ₦30 million and that the former governor provided more than the amount initially requested to account for possible additional expenses during the course of her studies.

He also said the financial intervention was kept private at the time and was not accompanied by any public ceremony or media event.

During Monday’s visit, Faith and her family updated Bello on her progress and thanked him for supporting her education.

Faith’s father said his daughter scored 89 per cent in her Public Pilot Licence examination and had completed her training ahead of the next phase of her aviation career.

He also noted that Bello had no prior relationship with the family before their initial meeting.

The family expressed appreciation to the former governor for helping Faith pursue a career in aviation, describing his intervention as a major turning point in her journey.

Faith’s father said the financial difficulties surrounding his daughter’s training had caused him considerable anxiety before Bello stepped in to provide the necessary support.

Muhammed said the assistance was part of Bello’s private scholarship and educational support initiatives, which have reportedly provided funding for professional training and university education.

According to the spokesperson, at least four beneficiaries have received support to train as pilots through Bello’s private scholarship programme, while other beneficiaries have been assisted with studies at universities in Nigeria and abroad.

He said Faith’s family did not visit the former governor to request additional financial assistance but to express their gratitude and inform him of the outcome of his intervention.

The family’s visit also highlighted the role of private educational support in helping students pursue specialised professional training that may otherwise be difficult to afford.
