The Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade, has praised the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) for its recent progress and expressed confidence that Nigeria can challenge for Olympic medals in volleyball and beach volleyball.
Olopade congratulated the federation’s leadership, describing its relationship with the NSC as an example of effective collaboration and strong federation leadership.
“Congratulations to the Nigeria Volleyball Federation. This is true federation leadership in true collaboration with the NSC,” Olopade said.
The NSC boss said he had consistently highlighted the rapid development of volleyball and beach volleyball in recent months, pointing to the progress as a sign of Nigeria’s growing potential in the two disciplines.
“The fast growth of volleyball and beach volleyball is something I have been talking about for months,” he stated.

Olopade further identified volleyball and beach volleyball as key areas of opportunity for Nigeria’s international sporting ambitions, stressing the importance of sustained investment, proper preparation and continued collaboration.
According to the NSC director-general, these efforts could help Nigeria develop world-class athletes and teams capable of competing at the highest level.
“They are a potential podium team at the Olympics,” Olopade declared.
His comments come as the NVBF continues to make significant strides in both indoor and beach volleyball, raising hopes that the country can build on its recent progress and establish itself as a serious contender on the Olympic stage.
