  • Victor Ochei Support Group backs Ochei for the 2027 Delta North Senate election.
  • The group cites his experience as former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly.
  • Ochei is seeking the senatorial seat on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
  • The group plans to mobilise communities across Delta North ahead of the election.
  • Supporters urge voters to assess candidates based on their records and competence.

The group’s Chairman, Ikechukwu Abiandu, and Secretary, Felix Elumelu, made the position known on Thursday during a joint press conference.

They urged voters across Delta North to assess the candidates contesting the 2027 senatorial election based on their records, antecedents, competence and ability to provide effective representation.

According to the group, Delta North requires experienced and responsive leadership capable of addressing the needs of its people.

The supporters described Ochei’s public service career as one marked by resilience and competence. They specifically cited his tenure as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly as an important part of his political experience.

“That is why we stand firmly behind Victor Ochei as he steps forward for our senatorial district. We will engage and prepare our people for the task ahead,” the group said.

Group Plans Grassroots Mobilisation

The Victor Ochei Support Group said it would engage communities across Delta North and encourage voters to examine the records and capabilities of candidates ahead of the 2027 election.

“Our mission is simple: to inspire hope, promote informed choices and build a movement that puts the people first,” the group said.

The organisation said its campaign would focus on mobilising residents and promoting what it described as a new direction for Delta North.

It also said it would advocate greater opportunities for young people and women, community development and quality representation for the senatorial district.

The group urged supporters to actively communicate Ochei’s message to residents as political activities ahead of the 2027 election intensify.

It described the forthcoming contest as an opportunity for voters to weigh candidates’ previous performance against their campaign promises.

Ochei’s Political Career

Ochei served as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly from June 6, 2011, to March 18, 2014, during the administration of former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.

He joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) on June 28, 2016, and subsequently participated in political mobilisation and grassroots activities across Delta State.

Ochei later defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on May 8, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general election.

The Victor Ochei Support Group said his experience across different stages of public service would be a major consideration as Delta North voters assess their options for the Senate election.

The group pledged to continue mobilising support and engaging residents across the district as preparations for the 2027 Delta North Senate election gather momentum.
