Key Phrase: Fintiri Advances Agriculture and Welfare

The newly employed operators will be deployed to manage a fleet of tractors recently acquired by the state government for use across the 21 local government areas. The initiative forms part of the administration’s agricultural mechanisation programme aimed at increasing productivity, improving farming efficiency and expanding access to modern agricultural equipment.

The operators were drawn from participants in a government-sponsored training programme designed to equip young people with the technical knowledge required to operate and maintain modern farming machinery.

Government officials said the recruitment would not only support the effective utilisation of the tractors but also create employment opportunities for qualified youths across the state.

New Salary Structure for Local Government Workers

In a separate development, Governor Fintiri approved the full implementation of the ₦70,000 minimum wage for local government employees under the Harmonised Administrative Salary Structure (HASS), the Medical and Health Salary Structure (MLJSS), and the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS).

The approval is expected to align the remuneration of affected workers with current salary standards and enhance their welfare.

The governor also authorised the payment of statutory entitlements to elected local government officials, a move aimed at improving accountability, strengthening financial administration and enhancing service delivery at the grassroots level.

Focus on Agriculture and Governance

The latest approvals underscore the administration’s continued focus on agricultural development, institutional reforms and improved welfare for public sector workers.

Since assuming office, Fintiri has pursued policies targeted at expanding infrastructure, modernising agriculture, strengthening public institutions and improving living standards across the state.

The recruitment of tractor operators is expected to support the government’s broader strategy of boosting food production and encouraging mechanised farming, while the salary adjustments are intended to improve staff motivation and operational efficiency within local government councils.

Officials said the measures are consistent with the administration’s goal of building a more productive agricultural economy, strengthening grassroots governance and promoting sustainable development across Adamawa State.
