The Delta State Police Command has arrested two armed robbery suspects, allegedly linked to a string of robbery incidents in Ughelli and its environs.

The suspects, identified as Moses Francis, and Cosmos Erueseke, were apprehended during a joint operation by officers of the Command Anti-Vice Squad (CAVS), and members of the Ughelli Vigilante Group.
Police spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, in a statement on Tuesday, said the operation followed credible intelligence received by the police.
According to him, operatives stormed the Okorodafe area of Ughelli at about 4:30 p.m. on June 14 and arrested Francis.
“During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in several robbery operations, including a robbery incident that occurred along Aro Street, Ughelli, in April 2026,” the statement said.
Edafe said the suspect subsequently led police officers to a hideout in Ughelli where Erueseke, believed to be another member of the gang, was arrested at about 5:40 p.m. the same day.

He added that both suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang and recover firearms and other items used in their criminal activities.
In a separate operation, the police recovered a large quantity of suspected illicit drugs from an abandoned vehicle along the Ozoro/Oleh Expressway.
The command said operatives of the Command Anti-Vice Squad, who were on stop-and-search duty at about 4 a.m. on June 14, intercepted a Toyota Sienna with registration number FST 242 YK.
However, the driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby bush during questioning.
Despite immediate efforts to apprehend him, the suspect escaped.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of substances suspected to be illicit drugs, including codeine, tramadol, swinol, Man G and vega.
The recovered exhibits have been taken into custody, while investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the fleeing suspect.
