Nigerian track star Tobi Amusan continued her impressive run of form by winning gold in the women’s 100m hurdles at the New Taipei Athletics Open in Taiwan on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
The world-class hurdler stormed to victory in a time of 12.72 seconds, setting a new meeting record and further cementing her status as one of the leading athletes in global track and field.
Amusan finished comfortably ahead of Taiwan’s Bo Ya Zhang, who claimed the silver medal with a time of 13.17 seconds, while Yi Po-an secured bronze in 13.37 seconds.
The Nigerian athlete’s winning time of 12.72 seconds broke the previous meeting record of 12.80 seconds, which was held by former world champion and Olympic silver medallist Nia Ali of the United States.
The 29-year-old showcased her class throughout the competition, beginning with a commanding performance in the qualifying heats before delivering another dominant display in the final.
Amusan took control of the race after the fourth hurdle and steadily extended her lead, leaving her competitors with little chance of catching up.
