Political commentator Isaac Fayose has sparked controversy after calling for the questioning of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, over comments he allegedly made amid recent kidnapping incidents in Oyo State.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Fayose linked the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in parts of Oyo State to political tensions involving Governor Seyi Makinde and Wike.
According to Fayose, Wike had allegedly threatened to “put fire” in Oyo State during political disagreements with Makinde. He argued that the timing of the kidnappings, which occurred around a period of heightened political activity in the state, raised questions that deserved investigation.
Fayose further alleged that comments made by political actors following the incident appeared suspicious and suggested that security agencies should examine the circumstances surrounding the kidnappings more closely.
He also referenced insecurity challenges recorded in Rivers State during Wike’s tenure as governor, claiming politicians often wield significant influence and should not be shielded from scrutiny when serious allegations arise.
Calling for official action, Fayose said security agencies such as the police and the Department of State Services should invite Wike for questioning if the country operated under strict adherence to the rule of law.

His remarks have generated mixed reactions online, with some social media users supporting calls for a thorough investigation into all aspects of the kidnappings, while others criticized Fayose for making allegations without presenting evidence directly linking any political figure to the crime.
Neither Wike nor his representatives had publicly responded to the claims at the time the video gained widespread attention.
The comments come amid growing public concern over insecurity and kidnapping incidents across several parts of Nigeria, with renewed calls for stronger security measures to protect schools and communities.
