The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has felicitated children of air force personnel, members of the military, and children across the country, as Nigeria marks the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.

In a goodwill message released on Wednesday, the air chief described children as the pride of the nation’s future and expressed optimism that they would grow into responsible citizens capable of contributing to national development.
According to him, children represent the hope of a stronger, safer, and more prosperous country, urging them to remain committed to learning, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence.

“You are the pride of our future and the hope of a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Nigeria,” Aneke stated.
The chief of the air staff encouraged children to continue developing themselves academically and morally, stressing the importance of courage, integrity, and determination in achieving their aspirations.
“As you grow in knowledge, character, and courage, may you continue to dream boldly and strive for excellence in all your endeavours,” he added.
Aneke also reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force to promoting the welfare and development of children through initiatives and policies aimed at creating opportunities for growth and self-actualisation.
He noted that the Nigerian Air Force remains dedicated to providing an enabling environment where children can thrive, realise their full potential, and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.

The Children’s Day celebration, observed annually on May 27, is dedicated to recognising the importance of children in society and promoting their welfare, rights, and overall development.
Across Nigeria, schools, security agencies, government institutions, and private organisations commemorated the day with various activities aimed at celebrating and inspiring children.
