Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, on Wednesday joined children across the country to celebrate the 2026 Children’s Day, reiterating the federal government’s commitment to providing inclusive and quality education for every Nigerian child.

As part of activities marking the occasion, the minister hosted young disability advocate and actress, Dera Osadebe, at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by the minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Ikharo Attah, the event brought together children from different schools and backgrounds across the country in an effort to amplify children’s voices and promote inclusive learning.
Speaking during the event, Alausa described Children’s Day as a reminder of the need for collective action towards securing a better future for Nigerian children through sustained investment in education, welfare and opportunities.

He said every child deserved to feel valued, supported and encouraged to pursue their dreams regardless of social background or physical condition.
The minister also commended Dera Osadebe for her advocacy on behalf of children living with disabilities and autism, noting that her courage and passion continued to inspire conversations around inclusion, empathy and equal opportunities for children in Nigeria.
Alausa said the celebration aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, particularly in areas concerning child welfare, youth empowerment and improved access to education nationwide.
He further encouraged Nigerian children to remain confident, develop their talents and contribute positively to society, assuring them that the government would continue working towards creating an enabling environment for their growth and development.
According to him, children remain central to the nation’s future and must be provided with opportunities to learn, grow and succeed.
