The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has inaugurated a 20-member national selection vommittee to supervise the screening and selection of aspirants ahead of its governorship and National Assembly primaries.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu, the move followed approval by the party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, based on recommendations from the National Working Committee (NWC).
According to the statement, the committee will examine reports submitted by the national screening committee and make final decisions on the eligibility of aspirants seeking the party’s tickets for the 2026 elections.
Former Senator Cleopas Zuwoghe was named chairman of the committee, while Enekweizu will serve as secretary.
Other members include, Babatunde Ali, Sidi Bomi, Mohammed Zuwo, Danlami Arabs, Fredrick Owotorufa, Chief Teddy Obey, Chief Barnabas Ejisi, Mrs.Adedayo Ekong, Yenusa Tanko, and Moses Paul.
Others are Buba Galadima, Aminu Abdulsalam, Danladi Abdulhamid, Udenta Udenta, Reuben Egwuaba, Dudu Manuga, Grace Onyekusiobi, and Shittu Mohammed.
The party appealed to aspirants and stakeholders for patience and cooperation, citing the limited timeframe for the exercise.

The NDC stated that the process is aimed at promoting consensus-building and ensuring the emergence of credible and widely accepted candidates through a transparent mechanism.
It added that only aspirants cleared by both the national screening committee and the national selection committee would qualify to purchase nomination forms.
The party further disclosed that direct primaries would hold from May 28 to May 30, 2026, in cases where consensus could not be reached among aspirants.
The committee is scheduled to be formally inaugurated on Monday, May 25, 2026, before immediately beginning its assignment.
