Governor Abba Yusuf has emerged as the sole governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections in Kano State.
The affirmation took place on Thursday, during the party’s primary held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, amid a large turnout of party supporters, political office holders and stakeholders across the state.
The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, moved the motion for the adoption of Gov. Yusuf as the party’s sole governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
Barau said the delegates had resolved to nominate and affirm Gov. Yusuf as the APC consensus candidate ahead of the next general elections.
The motion was seconded by Senator Suleiman Sumaila, senator representing Kano South, who described the governor as the party’s consensus choice for 2027.
Speaking at the event, APC national representative for the primary election, Buhari Shagari, said the consensus arrangement demonstrated unity within the party, noting that progress could only be achieved in an atmosphere of unity and cooperation.
In his acceptance speech, Gov. Yusuf pledged to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of Kano State and assured party members of his commitment to advancing development across the state.

The governor also declared support for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
He thanked the APC national leadership, security agencies and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)!for their support and cooperation during the exercise.
Gov. Yusuf further commended party members who accepted the consensus arrangement in the interest of unity, urging supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also called on residents to continue praying for peaceful, free and credible elections, while assuring other APC candidates of his support.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Kano State APC Chairman, Umar Doguwa, prayed for the success of the party at all levels and called for sustained peace and unity in the state.
