Two ships reportedly collided on the Bonny channel on Wednesday, partially paralyzing activities at the Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) in Bonny island, Rivers State.
While one is said to be a cargo ship, the other is said to be laden with petroleum products.
One of the ships reportedly sank following the impact of the collision.
What led to the collision was not clear as at press time. However frantic efforts were said to be on to rescue the sank ship and clear the channel for normal activities.

The incident has also affected activities at ocean going vessels at Onne port as a staff of one of the shipping companies reported that they were scheduled to work on a vessel on night shift, but they were asked to go home due to the incident at Bonny.
Casualty figure if any has not been confirmed as official sources could not be reached as at the time of the report .
